  • When does the course start and finish?

    The course starts now and never ends! It is a completely self-paced online course - you decide when you start and when you finish.

  • The Conferring Companion looks like a great tool for 3-5 teachers, but do you sell one for primary grades?

    Yes! We also offer a Conferring Companion for teachers of grades K-2. See below for a link.

  • I am a literacy coach and I would like to share the Conferring Companion with the teachers I support. Is it okay if I make multiple copies to share?

    We are happy that you find it useful enough to share, but you have purchased a single-user license. Each teacher will need his/her own license. We wanted to keep the cost of this tool extremely affordable to get it into the hands of many teachers. We respectfully ask that all abide by the terms of the license to keep prices low for everyone.

  • How long do I have to download the materials?

    How does forever sound? We may periodically make updates, but we have no plans to remove this course.

  • I am an elementary principal, and I would like to purchase the Conferring Companion for all of my teachers. Do you offer group pricing? Do you accept purchase orders?

  • I teach 6th grade. Will the Conferring Companion for Grades 3-5 work for me?

    While this toolkit was designed with grades 3-5 writing standards in mind, 6th grade teachers have found them extremely beneficial for their students. As you know, conferences and small groups are often used to catch up students who are lagging behind, so this is a great differentiation tool for 6th grade teachers.

She has 33 years of teaching experience--15 years as an elementary teacher and 18 as a K-6 literacy specialist/consultant in schools across the U.S. and Canada. During 7 of those years, she served on Lucy Calkins' Units of Study Team (TCRWP) and for the past 18 years, she has been an instructor for the Bureau of Education and Research (BER). She is also the founder of www.Teacher2Teacher Help.com, a website of free resources for elementary teachers. Her goal is to provide engaging, practical, and relevant strategies that inspire teachers to grow lifelong readers and writers in their classrooms.
